For years now, these recognizable taglines have been clamored into something so dynamic and powerful that we can still feel it’s a roar in our everyday life. These taglines are how these companies have set their tone and paved a path for their communication and identification.

Thus, in the words of Jeff Bezos,

“Your brand is what other people say about you when you’re not in the room.”

It is indeed true that a strong brand in the market receives more inputs, sales, and better customer experiences.

1. Understand your purpose-

To build a personal brand that’s a caricature of your potential, skills, and professional identity, you first need to figure out who you are.

It’s not about what you can bring to the table but identifying your niche market and target audience for potential clients.

And to do that, you need to be retrospective as well as introspective at the same time.

Ask yourself-

  1. What service/product you want to offer?
  2. What sets you on fire? What’s your motivation?
  3. Who do you want to do it for?
  4. What do you charge? How do you charge?
  5. Can you do it for hours? Do you love what you do?

If these questions are hard for you, you should not hesitate and take help from your friends, parents, and colleagues. Once you’re aware of your different roles and the assets you can bring, you can definitely figure out how to present them as a brand.

Once you have figured out why and what you want to offer, the next thing is to find your target audience.

You need to sort out the group of people you want to influence your product and lure them into buying. Why do they need your product? How long will they use your product?

The first focus should be on establishing crystal clear empathy with the audience you are planning to serve.

Chasing trends without a clear patch of truth will make the audience lose sight of your brand.

Unless you want to dry away in the chunks of other small businesses looking up to their big competitor, please try to remain true to your vision, drive, and purpose.

4. Research Competition

Analyze your competition and think about the unique and constructive ways to outrank them or eliminate their supremacy from your target market.

You can always use an effective communication strategy to tweak your branding process in a market full of competitors.

  • Be aware of what your competitors are offering.
  • Differentiate yourself from others.
  • Convince your clients what makes you better.

For instance, if I start as a content writer, I need to be aware of all the content writers in my market. I need to think and direct my work to outrank my competitors to be the first choice of my potential clients.

5. Create Value Prepositions

Value prepositions are the foundation of your business growth. Demand your value propositions that set your business apart from the market. It will help your customers realize whether your product benefits them or not. It grabs an eye for attention.

The objective of valuing your product hangs on the following cue points -

  1. Money — Help your customers save money.
  2. Time — Save your customer's time.
  3. Reputation- Help them look good. Your product should add value and make them feel confident about their family, friends, and colleagues.
